God sometimes gives us unexpected gifts. Our gift has been a grandson who enlivens our lives and makes retirement very different than the one we anticipated. He is a special joy. And that's "Casey." In 2006 we fulfilled our dream of living in Italy for a year. It was every bit as wonderful as anticipated. This blog begins in 2005 as we prepared for that experience. Since then we have explored many places together. That's the "Travel." And finally, I am a person of opinions--spiritually, politically, on just about anything and that's the "Other Stuff." Welcome to my blog.

Jane, I'm curious why your blog (which I love) is no longer showing on the Slowtrav website??

I'm loving your posts on the political situation.

Thanks! Donna (in SF)

Donna, thanks for pointing this out. I thought it had been corrected. They moved the blog from where it was and it was supposed to go to the Trip Planning blog section but somehow it ended up in the website section. Then when the correction was made it was done wrong. My website was moved to the blog section and the blog left in the website section. Confusing? Yes. I didn't realize this until your comment so thanks for sending it. Kim will fix it probably on Monday.

And..thanks for reading the blog!!

I just read this column and thought you might like it. http://www.miamiherald.com/living/columnists/leonard-pitts/story/721465.html

ps - no need to publish this comment - just thought you might appreciate Mr. Pitts insight.

Washington Post just endorsed THAT ONE!

The first of many, I'm sure. Onward to November 4!

Jane, I thought you might be interested in this group. It was founded here in NC and is doing some really good work here in the Bible Belt trying to dispel the old myth that if you are a Christian, you have to be a Republican.

Melissa, Vicky and Annie---thanks for your links. I will check them all out. I did just read the Washington Post endorsement and it was excellent although the heading was weird.

Just a little more than 2 weeks---the night of Nov. 4 will be a difficult one.
