God sometimes gives us unexpected gifts. Our gift has been a grandson who enlivens our lives and makes retirement very different than the one we anticipated. He is a special joy. And that's "Casey." In 2006 we fulfilled our dream of living in Italy for a year. It was every bit as wonderful as anticipated. This blog begins in 2005 as we prepared for that experience. Since then we have explored many places together. That's the "Travel." And finally, I am a person of opinions--spiritually, politically, on just about anything and that's the "Other Stuff." Welcome to my blog.

Substance vs. Talk

These are today's, September 17th, TV ads from Obama and McCain--both speaking to the serious issue of our failing economy. After watching the videos, you may want to answer a brief one question poll that is at the top of the sidebar.

Jane, not only does the Obama ad offer substance, so does his plan.

I am thankful for you showing this dichotomy between the two candidates on your blog, and even more thankful that the big and pressing issues that we are facing as a nation are being addressed. How else can we as voters make intelligent choices if we don't hear from the candidates about where they stand?

I'm not able to get the McCain video to play. I don't think it is my browser since I can get all other YouTube videos to play. I even tried double clicking and bringing it up on the YouTube site. Perhaps he changed his mind (again!) and got it pulled off of the internet?

I did watch the Obama video. Thanks so much for posting it. I heard about it last night and was hoping to see it. It definitely hits home to me and is full of substance.

Susan, that's strange. It still is working for me. Wonder what's happening?

Mamma mia. It is like day and night, isn't it. How can anyone with even somewhat of an objective mind think about voting for McCain??? Barak Obama simply has to win this one.

Ok, it is working today. Have no idea why it wouldn't work since I was checking out other YouTube videos yesterday?? I even tried reloading your blog. After watching both, I would have to agree with Terry and Diana...definitely Mamma Mia are we screwed if Obama loses!! Did you hear Palin say today "the Palin McCain ticket"?

Susan--Palin/McCain? That says it all. She really is a barracuda. Heaven help us all! Wicked woman. I guess there is something to hide now that she is trying to kill the investigation in Alaska. Surprise, surprise!

I must correct myself. I just saw her speech again, not "the Palin McCain ticket", the Palin McCain ADMINISTRATION"!!! Yes indeed, it seems like those puppeteers running Bush have found their new puppet and with McCain now thinking that Spain is in Latin America....I think we can all see where this is headed.

I wonder if anyone will be surprised that her hubby now won't testify? And here she says she stands for being open and honest! Ha!

Susan, that would be funny if it weren't so very, very scary. This is one dangerous, scary woman. Did McCain really say that about Spain? Oh---they just can't win.

Here's an article on McCain's comments about Spain's Prime Minister where he clearly talks about Latin America when the questions are about Spain:

This is one more proof (as if we need more!) that he's not mentally fit to be president. I'll be doing a lot of praying if he gets elected.

Thanks, Maria. His mind is already failing!

Two TV programs that I have recently begun watching, and you may find worth your while. They are both on MSNBC. The first is Countdown with Keith Olbermann, and it is followed (or preceded, depending what time you watch) with the Rachel Maddow Show. Both shows deliver a one-two punch on the day's news and newsmakers, and I may add that they are not very McPain-friendly. For me, they both tell it like it is, and I only wish that all our news stations covered the stories and asked the questions that these hosts do.

On the East Coast, they come on at 8PM and 9PM respectively, and then are repeated at 10 and 11.
