God sometimes gives us unexpected gifts. Our gift has been a grandson who enlivens our lives and makes retirement very different than the one we anticipated. He is a special joy. And that's "Casey." In 2006 we fulfilled our dream of living in Italy for a year. It was every bit as wonderful as anticipated. This blog begins in 2005 as we prepared for that experience. Since then we have explored many places together. That's the "Travel." And finally, I am a person of opinions--spiritually, politically, on just about anything and that's the "Other Stuff." Welcome to my blog.

Reflections in Pictures

...sitting here thinking about Italy this summer and pondering how vacation times fade into forgotten memories so quickly as the "now" takes over. Thank goodness for the magic of photography which captures memories for times of reflection and appreciation of what was.

So, forthwith here are some of this year's memories:

(these have music attached so you may want to turn down sound.)

Montepulciano--Good Friends--Bellissimo

Verona--Not Casey's Favorite Experience

Venice--A Place of Fantasy and Intrigue

Next up: Cortona, Greve and Assisi.  Stay tuned..

Jane, your collection of photos from Venice are breathtaking. The music fits it so well. May I ask - what is the piece? I am savoring the mood created by both before I go on to the other snippets. What a treasure for your family - both the memories and your work!

Menehune, Ciao and Aloha....thanks for enjoying the slide show--many memories. The music on the Venice piece is Plaisir d'Amour by Giovanni Martini. The violinist is André Rieu whom I truly enjoy. The music on the other two slideshows is played by him, also.
